What Benzodiazepines Do

Benzodiazepines are GABA drugs prescribed to people struggling with anxiety. What benzodiazepines do is raise the brain’s output of GABA neurotransmitters. These GABA drugs help people to relax, however there are some caveats. What benzodiazepines do to the brain’s GABA neurotransmitters can be highly addictive, leading to a dangerous prescription addiction. Recovering alcoholics and drug addicts need to be especially cautious in this area, because benzodiazepine medications can cause relapse on alcohol and other drugs as well.
